The Ultimate Fly Line. A revolutionary taper design allows tremendous loop stability at distance and a unique weight distribution loads a rod at close range for easy casting. The front taper delivers perfect turnover and presentation of flies between sizes #22 and #2, making this the best general purpose, all round fly line on the market.
The long back taper is excellent for mending and for roll and single handed spey casting and the color change between the head and the running line makes it easy to find the perfect load point for each cast.

The lines features RIO's new Extreme Slickness Technology for an extraordinarily slick, dirt-repelling coating; in addition RIO's AgentX and Super Floatation Technologies ensure the line tip and running line remain floating high. As with all of RIO's premier trout lines a small, neat welded loop in the front end makes it easy to change leaders.

Improved for 2008

The RIO Grand is one half size heavier and features a unique taper design that pushes the weight to the front - enabling the caster to load the rod at short range. The line is ideal for fast action fly rods.
RIO's AgentX Technology gives the RIO Grand maximum floatation and creates an ultra smooth coating. This, coupled with the new Extreme Slickness Technology, ensures the line's coating is super slick and results in increased distance and line shooting ability. The Super Floatation Tip stays riding high on the water and has a welded loop to facilitate fast rigging.

Improved for 2008 

For 2008 RIO has improved the Selective Trout line by making it a softer and more supple fly line so that it comes straight off the reel and without any memory. RIO has also added the new Extreme Slickness Technology, creating a super slick, dirt-repelling coating.

For discerning anglers and technical fishing, these unique weight forward and double taper lines are designed for trout fishing where presentation is of the utmost importance. Both the weight forward and double taper lines have long front tapers for delicate presentations and an extended rear taper for effortless roll casting. The Selective Trout line is good on bamboo and all medium action trout rods. RIO has slightly increased the weight behind the front taper of the double taper for easy turnover of long leaders. The Selective Trout line is ultra supple and memory-free in winter. The AgentX coating makes these high floating lines incredibly easy to lift quietly off the water. The Super Floatation Tips have a welded loop except on the Double Taper lines and the WF1F and WF2F lines where delicacy is of the utmost importance.

RIO’s Nymph line is ideal for nymph fishing under all conditions; whether indicator, Czech, high stick or dead drift nymphing. The profile has a very long back  taper and body for easy roll casting and mending and the short front taper ensures that casting weighted nymphs, indicators and big air-resistant flies is no problem. RIO’s Super Floatation Technology creates an ultra high floating tip that stays up under normal conditions and the high visibility tip is a built-in strike indicator. The Nymph line has a welded loop on the front tip for easy rigging and fast leader changes.

For 2008 RIO has added the new Extreme Slickness Technology to the WindCutter II line. This new technology creates a super slick, hydrophobic coating that repels dirt and adds distance to each cast.

This WindCutter II was designed especially for western rivers where delicate presentations are required in windy conditions. Accurate casts can be made with the just the tip of the rod for a very tight loop; for windy conditions or when distance is needed, the thick belly will load the butt section of modern graphite rods. The Super Floatation Tip does not sink and with a welded loop on the front end it facilitates quick leader changes.  The AgentX coating delivers smooth casts in coldwater fishing conditions, and the two-colored line shows exactly the loading point of the head.
