Casting heavy or wind-resistant flies has always been a challenge, even for good casters. Jim Vincent and Simon Gawesworth collaborated with Bob Clouser in developing the Clouser line. Bob is the famed fly tier, guide, instructor and conservationist best known for inventing the Clouser Minnow, one of the most versatile flies for both fresh and saltwater. The Clouser line, with its unique reverse compound taper and a bullet front taper, turns over heavy flies into the wind without effort and smoothly transfers energy to prevent the characteristic “kick” with heavily weighted flies. The Clouser line includes the RIO proprietary welded loop on the tip for quick leader changes and is made with AgentX and XS (Extreme Slickness) Technology.

Made specifically for the casting demands of steelhead and Atlantic salmon fly fishing. The long belly and long back taper were developed for easy, controlled mends, roll casting and single handed spey casting. A bullet front taper turns over bombers, indicators and other large flies with ease. With the AgentX Technology it’s easy for the angler to lift line off the water and the new XS Technology results in extremely long casts.

RIO has added a welded loop to the front end for easy rigging. Use this loop to attach one of RIO's VersiLeaders to and instantly turn your line into a sink tip.

Created specifically for the pike and musky fly fisher, the Pike line has distinct advantages over other lines. The medium length head is slightly heavier to load modern fast action rods quickly for both long and short controlled, accurate casts with large pike flies. The short bullet front taper turns over large bunny leeches and streamers into the wind with ease. Made with a supple coldwater coating, AgentX and XS Technology, the line remains memory-free in cold fishing conditions.

Designed for the special disciplines of fly fishing for bass. This weight forward fly line combines an aggressive, short bullet-shaped forward taper and a medium length back taper. RIO’s Bass fly line is designed for fixed length (repeatable) short and long distance casts and is the perfect taper for casting large, wind-resistant bass flies. Excellent turnover results from the hard self-lubricating coating that doesn’t wilt or sag in the heat.
